European Gardens I

The gardens at Shoenbrunn Palance Vienna. Excellent Fountain work. The hedges planted as boundaries for flowers a nice idea. Great planning for coloration and design.

Gratitude on Year 12

Just completed year 12 year and into year 13...thankful to all in recovery small to big that I've come across since 1995. Continuing the journey and we "work the Program until the Program works us." Grateful, above all, to a magnificent and loving Higher Power who presides over all. Here's the famous man on the bed pic.

Landscape Variations II

Landscape can be generally commercial or residential. Included is a pic of a park pond and parking strip. A lot of planting and tree planting involved here. Most likely an in line valve system added. The residential has a waterfall set up. This could be fed by a continuous pump. The hotel pic has a whole batch of yellow flowering plants to make it appear more attractive to passerbys. The creek landscape project is a major work with design and rock settings just right. A stream is pumped. Grasses are planted along with ground cover. Landscape lighting may be added and connected to a timer. With the pond bordered by brown square, note the pea gravel placed around the sides. Sod was added as well as narrow side planters...a beautiful work.

Sprinklers/valves

Here is a pic of overlying and in line valves. Included are some "pop up" heads. Hunters seem to have evolved beyond the old galvanized rain bird, save water more, and have a finer spray/more pressure settings for long distance.

Landscape Variations

Some examples...the curved grass behind what may be a wooden sauna is Marathon--a rich green grass very soft to the touch. The small waterfalls on the rocks (with ornamental prune tree) probably has a continuous recycling pump. These have to be checked and maintained every couple years or so. Pumps fail, get plugged up and the plastering may leak over time and wear and tear. The nice flower garden in the Atlanta area...higher rainfall and humidity over there.

Lastly the brick house has a lot of mulch in the front planters. Put in once a year or so, the mulch offers better water retention during sprinkling and may discourage species of weeds from emerging in early spring. Mulch is also in the aforementioned Marathon grass pic.

Tuileries Gardens

Some examples...this is the garden for romance in Paris. One pic may be a doctored painting or just a spectacular photo in the moment. Once again, a lot of landscape and continuous maintenance throughout most of the year.

Italian Landscape

Couple interesting pics. Look at the amount of work done to put this mansion in the ridge above the sea. Some great stone work and the pond in front of the vines.

Gardens at Versailles

An amazing amount of maintenance needed for this huge palace. Plants should be chosen that live in the cold Parisian climate. EG tulips probably grow well over here. Note that the sod is cut in curves and angles. Takes practice to make clean cuts this way.

Landscaping/Gardening: Hampton Court

Some pics...note the size of the garden. Maybe a good 50 gardeners were used to prune the plants, cut the grass, and clean the foliage on a consistent basis. The pruning had to be pretty exact to satisfy the royalty. A lot of work especially in a time of no machinery. All hand tools.
