Santa Susana Mountains--views 4/30/2010

These are a transverse range...going from about the Newhall pass, thru Simi Valley and possibly into the sea. Highest point is Oat mountain at about 3700 feet. These tend to have rolling ridges with black oak and very nice wavy golden brown fescue. On this day, Los Angeles had significant winds. It was clear in all directions so one could see for many miles in many areas. Flowers in bloom in many spots. Primarily up here was the lupine, growing in batches for miles at a time. One can start in Granada hills and get to Newhall to the north or they could go to Simi Valley at Tapo Canyon.
