TYPES OF XMAS LIGHTING
Is anybody gonna light the yard all around? How about the Xmas tree...plastic or cut evergreen? Do you use old fashioned Xmas lights or only modern stuff? Like I remember the "bubble" lights from 40 years ago to adorn the Xmas tree. At one point even candles were put on the branches. One neat way is to get pie pans and put lights with red cover on them...These found Hastings Ranch. Another cool trip is "Christmas Tree Lane" in Altadena. Most of the deodores are adorned a good 5-10 blocks. Probably best bet is to buy a potted tree each year and plant them after Christmas (with loving landscape care).

This weekend my 7.5' beautiful artificial tree went up and it looks amazing. It resembles a Noble Fir and it has what seem like thousands of clear lights. It was our small way of helping preserve natural trees and in the long run it turned out to be very convenient. The ornaments are all unique and everyone comes to get a closer look at them and are invariably impressed with the whole effect.
Groovy...firs are most appropriate for the Jolly St Nick season. Do you put the lights on the inside of the branches near the crown or put them on the middle or outside. (some family differences here). How about a big star (pentagon or sexagon) on the top? Then, the "silver lining" stuff all the way from top to bottom. This year, in fact, I did my family tree (a plastic one from 1997) and layed the lights backwards where it plugged in on the top! A "rummy" mistake...
