Mt Baldy (Mt San Antonio)

This is a huge "ice cream" shaped mountain rising to 10064 feet or so above the sea. Several ways to access the summit. A: From Baldy Village; B: from Guffey Camp; C: from the ski lift; D: (much harder) from the top of Iron Mountain. Snow is often found in slivers on the peak throughout the summer as well. Hiked this one in 7/89 and a spectacular view in all directions for 100s of miles. It's a long hike and around 15 miles round trip and 5500 elevation gain/loss. Many types of conifers found up here and a few alpine type plants. Nearby, one can also take trails to Icehouse Canyon to Icehouse Saddle; Ontario/Cucamonga Peak; and the "3 Ts," Telegraph Peak/Thunder Mountain/Timber Mountain. Or, one could go from Baldy Village over Baldy and into the north "Devil's Backbone" trail. This clambors over Pine Mountain and Dawson peak before descending into Guffey camp (south of Wrightwood).

Thank you for your comment. I didn't quite get it, but it is the intention that counts. These pictures are amazing! How wonderful to be able to experience nature the way you do!
