Railway of Thaddeus Colincourt Sobieski Lowe




Here are several parts of the Lowe Railway. This railway was the conception of T.S.C. Lowe an inventor of many things. This project thought up in the 1880s and reached fruition by 1891. The Pacific Electric Trolleys would go up Lake Avenue in Pasadena and meet the Lowe Trolley at the mouth of Rubio Canyon. The 3 hotels would last from 1893-1936 as millions would get to spend several nites in the San Gabriel mountains. These are pics of Rubio Pavilion about .5 mile up from the mouth of the canyon (now a house row but pathway still there).
